Ralph Waldo Emerson

The great American Transcendental, writer and thinker:

"It has come to be practically a sort of rule in literature, that a man, having once shown himself capable of original writing, is entitled thenceforth to steal from the writings of others at discretion."

The point of education is to teach you how to do something. In the case of writing, the goal is to teach you how to write. Once you have proven yourself a writer, be excused from ceaseless examination! If not, then excuse yourself.
